Where History Comes to Life: The Heard Museum!

The Heard Museum in McKinney, Texas is having their exciting Dinosaurs Exhibit until December 31, 2008.  If you missed it the first time, be sure to check it out this time around! If your kids are into dinosaurs, they'll love it!

These life-size animatronic dinosaurs are worth seeing.  My boys had the time of their lives walking the trails, waiting to see the next prehistoric creature.  Set in the forest added to the element of surprise of where we would see the next dinosaur.  My family easily walked the half-mile trail where each of the giant lizards exist.  I was a little concerned how my 2 year old son was going to react to them.  He was a little apprehensive at first, but soon realized they were robots.  Then he tried to act tough like his older brother (age 5).  Before you know it, he was running and both of my kids could not wait to see which dinosaur would be next.

Last year's favorite dinosaurs such as the Dilophosaurus, popular for spitting water, and the classic Tyrannosaurus-Rex will once again roam the Earth.  My son's favorite was by far the one that spit water. At first they weren't so sure what was happening, but then quickly figured it out. Then it was the coolest one in the park they told me!

Ten new animatronic dinosaurs include:

Tyrannosaurus-Rex Baby

Iguanodon
Crylophosaurus
Chasmosaurus
Chasmosaurus Baby
Amargasaurus
Amargasaurus Baby
Muttaburrasaurus
Suchomimus
Therizinosaurus

If your children really love dinosaurs, be sure to check out the gift shop too. There are tons of cool toys for kids, especially the dinosaurs! They had a huge bin full of different types of dinosaurs - only for a few dollars each. I let my boys pick a few from there.

The cost is $8 for adult, $5 for children ages 3-12/senior citizen, ages 2 and under are free.  If you become a member, you get unlimited free admittance, 10% discount at the store, and other special  benefits.  Sign up for FREE Tickets to the Heard so you can see this exhibit!

The Heard Museum offers different exhibits throughout the year.  You can go online to their website to find out more information.

Have fun exploring,
